"Islık Çalan Hafıza" / “The Whistling Memory” - Hilal Can

Eserleriyle “Islık Çalan Hafıza” sergisinde yer alan sanatçı Hilal Can anlatıyor. - “I approach the body in my work not as a form that constructs identity, but as a space that remains close to its own nature—able to exist as it is and open to transformation over time. The fact that the figures do not fully conform to traditional representations stems from this perspective. This approach makes it possible to think of the body not through fixed definitions, but through experience, contact, and transformation; it opens up a broader field for considering how modes of visibility are constructed. Such forms of existence are often kept out of the light not because of their own nature, but due to dominant regimes of visibility. In this way, the potential of the soul is suppressed through the body and its roles, and quietly held in the shadows.” Artist Hilal Can, featured in the “The Whistling Memory” exhibition, talks about his work.
